Skywater Villa Door County
The Collection
Andrew J. Andropolis · AndyJack’s Gallery · Bay Shore Drive
Within the estate offering lies a second opportunity — one that cannot be replicated, purchased elsewhere, or assembled again.
Some collections are assembled. This one was lived.
For more than fifty years, Andrew Jack Andropolis created from this shore — in his studio on the property, on the lawn at the water’s edge, in the light that falls across Sturgeon Bay on a late afternoon in August. He worked in oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, metal, stained glass, sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry. He cast his own pieces, threw his own clay, built his own frames.
He studied at Wisconsin State College Oshkosh — the first graduating class to earn an art degree there — and later taught art, supervised programs in Brussels, and returned home to Door County, where he spent the rest of his creative life making work that almost no one outside this peninsula has ever seen.
Nearly 350 original framed works remain — together, as they were made, in the place where they were made.
The collection is being offered as a separate acquisition for those who understand what it means to preserve a body of work rather than disperse it. A professionally trained artist. A lifetime of output. A single provenance. Most of it created within sight of the water you are looking at right now.
Among the works: On The Hour — The Sailboat and The Steel Bridge. Painted the day the tall ships visited Sturgeon Bay. His sister was aboard one, returning from an overnight sail. The bridge behind them — now on the National Historic Register — stands in the painting exactly as it stood that morning. You cannot recreate that moment. You can only own it.
